The Master Plan
Nothing spells making and tinkering better than a World Changing Plan. We will shake the world … for a small quantity of people.
Collaborators look here!
Plan 1: Emergency Flood kit
In less developed countries, a simple flood can cut off various essentials to life, such as Clean Water (Drinkable), electricity, and communication channels (landlines).
However, by using the technology of Microbial Fuel Cells (MFC), we could create an emergency flood kit to help individuals overcome these challenges in a pinch, saving lives.

Key concepts to tackle
The microbial mastermind
- How much energy can be produced per unit time?
- How long does purification take per unit volume of floodwater?
- What is the shelf life of the microbes?
- What is the required environment for microbes survival?
The missed sediments
- What impurities from floodwater are not removed in this process?
- What are some realistically implementable methods to remove the above?
Electrical conundrum
- What are some realistic and useful applications of the energy produced above?
- How long can each of these applications last after a set amount of purification time (e.g. 1 hour)
General considerations
- How can we make this compact enough for portability? And how compact can it get?
- How low can we bring the cost per unit of this kit?
Plan 2: Asthma detection
In WHO estimates, 461,000 people die yearly from asthma attacks, and up to 1,200 daily. Most are preventable… if they know that its coming.
In this plan, we combine the intelligence of AI and the precision of sensor technology to create a chest mounted vitals monitoring smart device, that aims to warn it’s wearer of a potential incoming asthma attack.

Key concepts to tackle
The Biological Sirens
- What are the physiological indicators of asthma?
- Which of them are the most correlated?
Electronic First Responder
- What are the sensors required to measure the above?
- Amongst these, which are the best ergonomically? (size, weight, heat produced, power comsumption)
- What other components are required other than sensors?
Data crunching
- How do we process, analyse and interpret this data?
- How can AI technologies be involved to more accurately conclude from the data?
Ergo, Ergonomics
- How can we make this as comfortable as possible?
- Skin sensitivity?
- How can the product stay securely attached?
- Durability? (waterproof, impact-proof…)
The Physical Sirens
- How should the user be alerted? (avoid exacerbating)
- How should others be alerted?
Any other functionality?
